Choosing Wisely Canada mobilizes and supports clinicians and organizations committed to embedding campaign recommendations into practice.
There are close to 350 documented quality improvement projects across the country that are building capacity for the spread and scale of Choosing Wisely.
These efforts are underway in hospitals, long-term care homes, and primary care clinics. Many of these innovative projects, including their evidence-based tools and methods, have been packaged into easy to follow toolkits that are broadly circulated in order to encourage widespread adoption. This has allowed Choosing Wisely Canada to foster a network for those looking to implement campaign recommendations into practice.
The Choosing Wisely Canada Implementation Research Network (CWC-IRN) is a group of researchers, health care professionals, patient advisors, and policymakers. It aims to develop and evaluate programs for implementing Choosing Wisely Canada recommendations in Canadian health care settings, as well as to provide a network to facilitate sharing the learned experiences.Learn More
Diving into Overuse in Hospitals is a national campaign that aims to reduce unnecessary tests and treatments in hospital settings. The goal of the campaign is to get hospitals across Canada to join the global Choosing Wisely movement by making changes, small or large, to reduce overuse. Participating hospitals get access to a wealth of resources, including a starter kit, webinars, and other supports.
The Starter Kit provides practical advice and guidance on implementing Choosing Wisely recommendations into hospital settings. Upon implementation of this Starter Kit, and assuming all actions have been completed, hospitals can become designated “Choosing Wisely Canada Hospitals” (at either Levels 1, 2 or 3). See how you can get involved by downloading the Starter Kit.Download Starter Kit
